Photography accessories are a must #AD

For those who love to dabble in photography as much as me will know that the amount of accessories you can get for your camera is mind boggling! The list of accessories are endless. Some very useful, others an absolute waste of time, some great quality and others…not so much. I have bought numerous different accessories over the last few years, mostly from ebay to be honest, as I just cant justify to the missus some of the ridiculous prices and why I NEED another one of this or a new one of that. But never has anything I have ever bought…

5 photos from my local area – photalife challenge

I’ve recent been challenge by Darren Coleshill  from Photalife to step out of my comfort zone and photograph 5 images from my local area. People who read my blog will know that I mostly do landscape photography, when I go out and shoot I’m well within my comfort zone shooting these landscapes. But this challenge had me a little nervous. Like the time when I first picked up a camera and I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. It’s like anything when you become accustomed to it, it becomes second nature just like me with my landscapes. I…

New Linky for photography bloggers

Linkys are great, there are plenty around to choose from. But what about a Photography Linky? There doesn’t seem to be many around for us budding photographers. A few months ago I decided to make my own. I decided to have a challenge linky, but it didn’t seem to kick off, I think maybe the challenge part was putting people off as not everyone wants a challenge, or has the time to go out. Whatever peoples reasons I stopped running it. With the news of the great MySundayPhoto ending this coming December 2018 I thought I needed to re fill…

Fireworks The best in the North East

This is probably one of the best Fireworks displays in the North East. Yes I know the fireworks have ended in most parts of the uk or world but we have new years fast approaching so you might get a change to photograph the fireworks then if you missed out. Fireworks can be quite difficult to photograph, this was probably one of my best years shooting them to be honest. The image below was taken at the Infinity bridge in Stockton, only the actual fireworks are kind of set off in the same place so it makes it hard to…

Wild Northumbrian – The Shepherds Hut

Each time we visit Wild Northumbrian the better it gets, and leaves me wanting to book up again the minute we pack up to leave. Previously we have always stopped in Esk Yurt as its probably the most practical one for us – closest to the car park, not too far from the toilets for a night time dash across the field and most importantly its all fenced in so we dont have to worry about Marley wandering off by himself! But this time round we decided to go for something a little different and try the Shepherds Hut. We…

Scone drops – a little drop of heaven in your mouth

Louise is the owner and founder of Scone drops and last weekend she kindly dropped off some deliciously looking sweet and savoury scones for me to try out. The scones come in a rustic brown box tied up with string, and sealed with a sticker. Once I opened the box I was greeted with 4 miniature bags of sweet and savoury scones and hidden underneath were a few larger scones – plenty to meet anyones taste bud preferences. I was hoping to tuck into the lot without sharing a even a crumb, but just so happens that the missus was…

Photographing the Milky Way

The milky way is one of things you only ever see in movies or magazines, very rarely do you get to see it with the naked eye, or never see it at all if you live in cities or where there is a lot of light. To really get the best results of seeing the milky way you need to out of the way of those big cities, right out into the countryside miles from any civilisation, im lucky enough to live in the Uk best dark night spot right here in Northumberland, which is about an hours drive for…

Scream Factory Redcar – Screams come true

I love halloween. Back when I was younger I loved the excuse to get dressed up for a halloween party or night out. I dont get the chance nowadays as halloween has become all about our kids. Im pretty sure if you asked my missus she would tell you that Halloween/Bonfire night is her favourite time of the year! So much so that the house becomes decorated from the first week in October! So when we were recently invited to Scream Factories VIP preview night along with plenty of other influencers and bloggers I was over the moon. The missus…

My Favourite time of year for photography

Its starting to get to my favourite time of year for photography, the time we have very early dark nights, and later sunrises. I recently stayed in one of my favourite location up in Northumberland, and I was woken to a bright light beaming through the window, I havent moved as quick to get ready and head out with the camera, I didn’t have to go far as the shot I had in mind was right out the frnt door of the shepherds hut we were staying in. The sun was rising behind the hills in the distance with the…

Dream Big – Disney on ice

I am the biggest fan of anything Disney related and when I got offered the chance to go and see Disney on Ice at Newcastle Metro Arena – I certainly wasn’t going to turn the offer down! I mean yes it is for the younger generation, but I am secretly still a child at heart and I was certainly excited for it.   Disney On Ice presents Dream Big                                                               …

Northern Spire Bridge-Sunderland

The Northern Spire Bridge is Sunderland’s newest landmark and is likely to be one of the most photographed bridges in the north east for some time! Rightly so, it’s a magnificent structure and is very photogenic, especially at night. When something new comes around it of course exciting in the photography world but sometimes it can get a bit continuous when all you’re seeing is one subject being continuously posted online. I am too in that bracket. But I don’t post online, I keep to writing and posting my images right here on my blog. The History of the Bridge.…

Inchmurrin Island-Loch Lomond, Scotland adventure

Scotland has got to be my favourite places to take holidays. We have been here twice already this year and if I am honest I wouldn’t mind coming back in December. This time up we have stayed on Inchmurrin, which is one of only three habited islands on Loch Lomond. It is approximately 1 1/2 miles long and ½ mile wide and only a short boat ride across from the car park near Balloch. We have stayed here once before five years ago when it was the Queens Jubilee and the island was one of the chosen places to light…

Cirque Du Soleil OVO Uk tour 2018

Did you know that the world famous Cirque Du Soleil is in town? I went along to the opening night last night and got to see the brand new show for myself. Cirque Du Soleil – OVO conjures a fantasy world of insects which is interrupted by a tired yet energetic bluebottle carrying a large egg. Hence the OVO, which is Portuguese for egg. The story follows the Foreigner (bluebottle) and his love at first sight for a ladybug and at times has the crowd belly laughing with his affectionate advances. I particularly liked his attempt at the floss! The…
