Lucky for me I had the chance to visit cwm idwal in North Wales in the Glyderau mountains of Snowdonia, I was down in Wrexham for work and I had to make the most of my time here, after a little research and some online question to people who lived near by this was the place that was recommended to me.
It took me an hour to drive to this location and when you arrive here there is plenty of places to park on the side of the road and car parks all along the A5. However I managed to park at Ogwen Cottage Ranger Base which is actually part of the National Trust.
From the cottage you walk up a small incline and through the gate and onto the trail. You can make this walk as hard or as easy as you wish, As I didn’t arrive here until 6pm I knew I wouldn’t have time to hike up to 500m so I opted for the easy 50m which was nice and steady.
The view from where I was standing was simply breathtaking and your looking right down the valley towards Bethesda and other way you look over Llyn Ogwen and Mount Tryfan
There is more to this short walk which I didn’t get to as it was getting dark, there were also cows further up on the path which I am embarrassed but I am petrified so that was the main reason really, dont ask I just am.
But if you walk further up the path your greeted by Lake Llyn Idwal and Clogwyn Y Tarw and again there are views all around, and I can imaging if you were to hike the 500m the views would be out of this world so this is definitely on the bucket list to do in the near future.
The place is a photographers dream and a fantastic day out, whether that be for the family of a day trip, you will not be disappointed. Ill leave you with a few images I took as I think they will do the talking here.
