Studfold Farm, Harrogate – Easter Bunny Hunt

Last year my mother in law stumbled across a write up on Studfold Farm in a local Yorkshire magazine, it looked interesting but it was the back end of the season and so we saved it on the to do list to visit in the new season. The centre has a camping and static site and so the trail and cafe are only open through the caravan season (April – October), open every day in the Yorkshire school holidays and every weekend. It is around a 40 minute journey from where we stay in Ripley, and is fairly accessible from…

Springtime Live

Springtime Live is a relatively new edition to the family friendly event world but it’s come in with a bang. You can see my video of the day here:    We actually attended last year, stumbling upon the event advertised on Facebook and booked the tickets on a total whim! Last year was a bit of a wash out though as it rained all day which was a shame as the bad weather always puts a dampener on things, but even though we got soaked through we really enjoyed the day out and Zach begged us to return. Thankfully…

How to Take Great Photos for Your Blog

The picture you choose for the top of your blog is often the key factor for a viewer choosing whether to click or not. But, while image sites are great for finding generic pictures to go with your more general content, if you are writing a personal blog, you should definitely consider taking your own pictures.   If you aren’t a natural photographer, this might sound scary but there’s no need to worry. Cameras are so technologically advanced these days that you can legitimately point and click and then touch up on your laptop from the comfort of your sofa.…

Wall stickers for kids [AD]

#AD We have been in our new build house for nearly three years now and our sons room was decorated some time ago, but he doesn’t really spend as much time in there as we have turned our living room into a playroom.  It still looks good in his bedroom with toys to play with but felt as though it was lacking something on the walls. I was recently contacted by Wall Stickers for Kids to test and review some of their products. I was quite excited to be honest as its something I had heard of but always thought they…

Banyan – Newcastles newest nightlife and eatery [AD]

I was recently invited along with a +1 to the VIP launch night at all new Banyan bar and restaurant in Newcastle. I must admit that Newcastle is a place I just dont visit enough! I come through for food and events occasionally and maybe the odd night out but the transport links after 12pm to sunny Sunderland are non excitant and I just hate paying taxi fees.  But after being in a place like Banyan…it makes me think I should do it more often. Prime Location So Banyan is located where Jamies Italian used to reside, right opposite the…

Kippers Big Blue Balloon Tour and our craft project :: AD

AD So KIPPER…..and I dont mean the fish thats often eaten at breakfast, I mean the little fun loving pooch we all should know from the amazing creator Mick Inkpen. From books to screens, Im sure at some point you will have come across Kipper and certainly been taken in by his character. This year sees the little dog turn 30 years old! Im not quite as old as him, but I did grow up reading the books and watching Martin Clunes bring the much loved character to life on our television screens. When we had kids, we both agreed…

Scaramanga :: the only camera bag I need in my life #AD

So my favourite find of 2018 was definitely Scaramanga. The leather camera strap I wrote about HERE was where my love affair began. The craftsmanship of the leather of the products is amazing and if you were to see them for yourself; I am sure you would agree! Scaramanga kindly sent me a further selection of products to trial including a handy pouch, hand camera strap and camera bag at the back end of last year. I have had the bag for a couple of months now as I really wanted to put it through its paces and give it a…

AD – Treehouse Yurt at Wild Northumbrian

So back in January we experienced yet another amazing weekend at Wild Northumbrian. This time round we stayed in the most recent accommodation offering and already the super popular Treehouse Houlet Yurt. I am not ashamed to admit that I was beyond excited to stay in the treehouse. I couldn’t wait to see what it had to offer and whether it filled my fantasy treehouse that childhood dreams are made of…   On leaving work on Friday, I headed straight up to the site  as it was easier for me to get there rather than double back home to come all…

The Dos And Don’ts Of Driving Abroad

Planning on driving abroad? As many drivers soon discover, driving in another country can be very different. Here are a few important dos and don’ts to consider before taking to the road in a foreign country.   Do consider the costs Driving abroad can be expensive if you’re unprepared. If you’re hiring a car, you may want to compare car hire pricing so that you’re getting the best deal. Insurance is something you may also want to shop around for, although many car rental companies can offer it for you. Other costs to consider include fuel, parking, tolls and permits…

Bongo’s Bingo at the Boiler Shop – Newcastle

#AD – #Gifted Tickets What do you envisage when you think of Bingo? A run down town hall venue full of elderly women drinking pots of tea and hoping for that big win so they can have a spending spree in Bonmarche maybe?! Yeah thats just what I see too and its not somewhere I would be rocking up to on a Friday night thats for sure. BUT HOLD THEM THOUGHTS…..there is a new Bingo and it is sweeping the North East like a pandemic and I am fairly sure that anyone in the age bracket of 18-45 (is that…

Picking A Pressie: Affordable Gift Ideas For Loved Ones

It can often be a challenge to find a gift for a loved one, especially when you’re on a budget of any kind. And, what families aren’t on some sort of budget? Okay, apart from maybe the royals and the Beckhams (but surely even they have a limit). It’s crucial to remember that the saying about it being the thought that counts, really is true. Friends and family will always prefer something that they know you’ve made a little effort with; these presents hold plenty of meaning, and will give the recipient the warm fuzzies every time they think about…

Family photos that make and keep memories alive

Each year I try to take a few family photos, just so we can look back at the memories we have as a family. We recently stopped in our favourite little holiday destination just an hour and a half away from where we live, the village of Tarset houses an amazing little glamping site set in the heart of the countryside. WILD NORTHUMBRIAN Wild Northumbrian is something you may have heard me talk about before on the blog, its something of a regular weekend break for us Adventure browns. We try and visit a couple of times per year as…

A house that is never big enough

When life was simple and all we needed was a little 2 bed bungalow, our fist house, just me and my partner. If I rewind back a bit to give you a little background story. I bought my first house when I was only 19 years old, a little bungalow in the centre of a old pit village, It really was a perfect house for us, and a brilliant first home. So much room for the 2 of us – two much room if the truth was known, moving house wasn’t even a thought back then. We brought our first…

Northumberland is the best for photography

Northumberland is a fantastic place for photography, from the coast and further inland, beaches and castles, it literally is a photographers paradise. The forecast was looking good to try and capture the milky way and despite the moon giving off 50% light it was still going to be a clear night, I wasn’t very hopeful of capturing anything to be honest because of the moon being so bright but it was still worth the trip out. I was kindly invited along to Dunstanburgh Castle by some fellow enthusiasts which was brilliant as I hate going to places like this by…

Milkman shaving gel review plus a big Giveaway

I have never been one for the clean shaving look, mostly because if I do shave i look like a pre-pubescent boy and that’s not good for my ego. I also hate doing it as my skin is so sensitive and it leaves my skin very sore. So, I mostly only ever shave under my neck to keep a neat beard as I like to have some but I have to lather myself in moisturiser afterwards to prevent my skin breaking out. Maybe this is due to the shaving foam I use or the type of razor, who knows, but…

Eggy brioche with fruity compote breakfast recipe

I recently wrote a blog post about a beautiful Dhal recipe from Tom Kerridge new book. Today I have another tasty treat from the same book, but this time I have something for breakfast. Buy the book Waterstones Amazon Most weekends I make something from the norm, and I like to have what my family like to call a special breakfast. Usually its Pancakes, as my missus loves my chunky american styles ones or even orange waffles and chocolate. This time I tried I tried a different breakfast recipe and rather than fill or smother in maple syrup and chocolate…
